Many Mini Musicians is a nonprofit that aims to fund fine arts in public schools and create opportunities for students to experience the arts.
As part of the University Fellows Experience, myself and a team of Honors College students presented a college readiness curriculum at Francis Marion School that we developed specifically for students at Title 1 schools in the Blackbelt. We shared our curriculum with 9-11 grade students and hosted "College Ready Night" at Francis Marion School which allowed parents and students to meet with local college representatives, gaining insights into financial aid and academic opportunities. Over 10 Alabama Colleges, Universities, and Trade Schools participated.
We presented the research component of our work at the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Conference. To evaluate the success of our project, we administered a pre- and post-assessment measuring students’ comfort with the college admissions process and their self-efficacy as applicants.
